​Endoscopy is a minimally-invasive procedure that aids in the diagnosis of certain disorders and diseases. Endoscopy permits direct visual examination and biopsy of the gastrointestinal system through a high-tech flexible fiber optics system. The tip of the endoscope is manipulated by our doctors using a control knob in the hand piece. With flexible endoscopy equipment we can examine, obtain diagnostic samples, and diagnose issues in the trachea, esophagus, stomach and upper intestinal tract.
Endoscopy may be recommended after a thorough physical examination has been performed. This non-surgical procedure minimizes the time your pet is under anesthesia, and they recover more quickly, with less pain, and with fewer complications than surgery. Fasting may be required for 24-48 hours prior to examination of the intestinal tract. Most patients go home the same day of an endoscopy, so it also reduces hospital stays when applicable,
